The next 24 hours may just be the most amazing 24 hours in my life! Why, you ask? Well you know I’m going to tell you. This is a blog, after all.
Today I leave my job after 7 years of employment and tomorrow I leave for a 4-day Comic-Con trip where my husband is going to put us up in a luxury hotel and shower me with all kinds of wonderful nerd schwag (he doesn’t know the latter yet). Pretty Awesome, huh?
Besides the next 24 hours, the next few weeks will be filled with wonderment and 100% pure fright. I have had a job since I was 12. No exaggeration there. I am now pursuing my creative urges and working on my website: Long Cool Woman with Big Feet and my storytelling show/podcast, Five Truths and a Lie. I’m even taking a couple of writing classes at UCLA. Of course, these interweb projects and classes are my job now. The difference is that, for the first time, my hard working bootie is not acquiring a paycheck. But with determination and talent, it soon will be. (I realize those last two sentences open the door for me becoming an “escort” if my website/show fails and I’m okay with that).
Okay. Back to Comic Con! Yippee! Woo Hoo! Boom Pow Zap! I am beside myself with excitement. I haven’t even mapped out my trip yet. I do know what I’m doing tomorrow though. I’ve been invited to Geek and Sundry’s VIP Party. It’ll be super cool and Felicia Day will be there. Maybe I’ll tackle her and hold her down while my husband takes a picture of us. Then again, I could always just ask for a picture, but that’s boring. It’s all about leaving an impression, people! My friend Kim Evey is also involved with Geek and Sundry which is makes her super cool as well and I’m so very proud of her.
I will be bringing some cool business cards with me and magnets. Yes, magnets. Magnets are cool and they hold things on your refrigerator that you open every day.
I’ll be posting for the next 4 days and depending on how amped I am, it may just be pictures until after Sunday.
